Questions
The things people actually ask.
Money, timing, and what the work is really like. If your question is not here, ask it on the call.
Is this a job?
No. Faldex contracts with independent agents, so you would be a 1099 independent contractor, not an employee. There is no salary, no benefits, no set hours and no guaranteed income. You are paid commission on policies that are issued and paid.
That cuts both ways. Nobody schedules your day, and nobody pays you for a slow week.
How much does it cost to start?
Between roughly $250 and $500 in most states, covering the pre-licensing course, the exam, fingerprints and the licence application. In Arizona it comes to about $325.
Errors and omissions cover and the cost of leads are on top of that and ongoing. We will give you the real number for your state on the call, before you spend anything.
Do you provide leads?
No. You buy your own leads. We are upfront about that because it is the fastest way to lose someone's trust if the page and the call do not match.
What you get from us is the vendors we actually use, the scripts, and help working them so you are not burning money learning.
How long before I earn anything?
Realistically four to eight weeks from starting the course, and most of that is licensing rather than selling. The course takes two to four weeks, the exam and licence add a week or two, contracting is about another week.
Plan for two months with money going out and none coming in. If that is not affordable right now, it is worth knowing before you start rather than halfway through.
Do I need experience?
No. Most of the people we work with have never sold insurance. What matters more is whether you will pick up the phone on the days you do not feel like it, and whether you can take coaching without taking it personally.
What contract level do I start on?
We will tell you exactly where you start and what moves it, on the call, before you commit to anything. We do not publish contract levels, because the number on its own tells you nothing without the rest of the picture.
What we will say here: if you are already producing well and shopping purely on contract level, there are agencies that will beat us today, and we would rather tell you that than waste your time.
Can I do this part time?
Most people start part time, and the licensing course is built for exactly that. You work through it around whatever else you are doing.
The selling side depends less on how many hours you have and more on when you have them. The people you are calling are usually reachable from late morning to early evening. If you can hold two or three consistent afternoon or early-evening blocks a week, part time works. If your only free time is after nine at night, be honest with yourself about that before you spend money on a course.
One thing worth saying plainly: the income figures you see in insurance recruiting ads almost always come from people doing this full time. Do not plan around them if you are doing it around another job.
Which states can I work in?
Two things decide it: the state you are licensed in, and whether our carriers will appoint you there.
Almost everyone starts by getting licensed in the state they live in. You can add other states later as non-resident licences once you are established, and plenty of agents do, but there is no reason to complicate your first few months with it.
Tell us where you live when you book and we will confirm before you spend anything on a course.
What happens on the call?
About fifteen minutes. We ask where you are, what you are doing now, and why you are looking. We tell you what the process costs in your state and what the first month looks like.
Then one of us says it is not a fit, or we talk about next steps. There is no presentation.
What if I fail the exam?
You rebook and sit it again. It happens to plenty of people. It costs you the exam fee a second time and nothing else.
Do I need errors and omissions cover, and who pays for it?
Yes, you need it, and you pay for it. It is required before you can write any business and it is set up as part of contracting, so you will not have to go looking for it.
For an agent writing life products only, it usually runs somewhere around $25 to $50 a month. Budget it as an ongoing cost sitting alongside leads, not a one-off at the start.
Will you be listening to my calls?
Yes, early on, and that is the point. Five shadow calls before you sell anything, then support on the line for your first calls. If the idea of someone hearing you work is uncomfortable, this is not the right agency for you.
Next step
Still deciding? That is what the call is for.
Fifteen minutes, no presentation. We will cost it out for your state and tell you honestly whether this is a fit.
Things you should know
Faldex Financial LLC contracts with independent agents. This is an independent contractor opportunity, not employment, and there is no salary, no benefits, and no guaranteed income. Agents are paid commission on policies that are issued and paid, and commissions are subject to chargeback if a policy lapses early. Agents are responsible for their own licensing costs, errors and omissions coverage, taxes, and business expenses, including the cost of leads. Income depends on individual effort, licensing status, and carrier appointment, and results vary. Nothing on this page is an offer of employment or a promise of earnings. Opportunity availability varies by state and by carrier. Licensing fees and requirements are set by each state and change over time; confirm current figures with your state insurance department before relying on them.
